While walking through the streets of Downtown Brooklyn, we came across this tiny café. What caught our attention was the sign outside promoting the Brooklyn Curry Project, which made us curious enough to stop in and give it a try. The regular menu is fairly limited during the week, but on Saturdays they focus on their Brooklyn Curry Project featuring additional South Indian tiffins. We tried the Thatte Idli, small button idlis, egg puff, and their filter coffee. The highlight of our visit was definitely the filter coffee. It brought back wonderful memories of the authentic South Indian filter coffee we enjoyed years ago. The Thatte idli had a nice sprinkle of spice powder and was served with flavorful coconut chutney and spicy tomato chutney. The egg puff was decent, though nothing particularly memorable. What kept this from being a higher-rated experience was the presentation of the button idlis. They were served in a tumbler / cup with sambar poured over them. Due to which the idlis lost their shape and texture turning into a mushy consistency. Best thatte idli I’ve had in the U.S.—super soft, perfectly fermented, and the chutney tasted just like Bengaluru. Truly felt like eating back home. Also the filter kappi was amazing 👏 🤩

A pleasant little cafe in downtown Brooklyn. The food was very fresh; Although I didn't order the daily special, the thattu idli was freshly made and warm. The chutney was vibrant and spicy which compliment the fluffy rice cake. Meanwhile, the iced coffee with banana milk and chicory was soo flavorful! Not overly sweet with a malty and mild banana taste went well with my vibrant meal. I will definitely come again; it's a wonderful addition to our food and coffee scene.

I had the Coffee and as someone who’s had Filter Coffee in Chennai , I am telling you this is sooo delicious and comforting and worth the buck 💵 PLEASE give this spot a go.

Good people, great food! The quality of ingredients and their passion towards sharing South Indian cuisine comes through in the food. Love the rotating menu & limited specials they add every week. Tried the Mysore Pak today, it was heavenly! Masala Chai, Filter Coffee, Masala Dosa & Egg Puffs are few of my other favorites!
